A viral internet ad claimed that a new software update called “Wave” allowed iPhones to fast-charge their batteries inside a standard household microwave.
The Reality: a small number of people actually tried it, resulting in ruined, smoking, and completely destroyed phones. It was an online prank designed by internet trolls to trick gullible users

The BBC released a nature documentary clip presented by Monty Python star Terry Jones claiming they had discovered a colony of Adélie penguins in Antarctica that could fly. The video even showed the birds taking off into the air to escape the cold winter and fly to the rainforests of South America.
The Reality: The video was a highly sophisticated April Fools’ Day joke made using advanced special effects. It became one of the most viewed viral videos of its time, though many viewers quickly realized penguins are physically incapable of flight.
